The Public Service Office (PSO) is pleased to announce and invite suitably qualified I-Kiribati for the Japan Scholarship under JICA Development Studies Program for Global Leaders program for the year 2027.
MASTERS AND PhD PROGRAMS
The objective of this Undergraduate, Masters and Doctors (PhD) degree scholarship are:
- To develop high level human resources who are capable of contributing to appropriate policy decisions and its implementation for tackling political and developmental issues in respective fields.
- To establish and strengthen medium and long-term partnership between partner countries and Japan.
This program provides participants with special courses on Japanese development experiences and internships if necessary, in addition to obtaining Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees in Japan.
Interested applicants are required to complete and submit their application form together with relevant documents to the Human Resource Management Center at the Public Service office in Bairiki no later than the 7th October 2026 for processing.

UNDERGRADUATE / PACIFIC PROGRAM
The program will be implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Government of Japan based on bilateral agreement between respective governments.
DURATION: In principle, 4 years for Bachelor’s program: from September 2027 to September 2031.
