Preface:

The Inspectorate Units is one of the Units under the Public Sector Performance Management (PSPM). This unit established by the government in the year 2016 to oversee the systems, procedures, staff performance, working environment and, customer service including service delivery within all government ministries. This role is aligned with the government’s motinnano “To produce a smart, efficient and hardworking public service”. As such, the PSO has been mandated to improve staff performance and customer service delivery to ensure total compliance with the set standards and comply with the National Conditions of Service.

Vision: Increase trust, effectiveness and efficiency in the public service.

Mission: To improve and maximize Public Service Performance productivity for the betterment of Kiribati

Objectives:

  • To ensure compliance with set standards, and regulations, as to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the public service as well as enforce discipline among Public Servants.
  • To improve customer responsiveness, accountability, transparency, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery by employees.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks against set targets/objectives and advising on possible solution.
  • Reviewing and evaluating performance of civil servants and identifying cases of excellent and/or poor performance with a view to recommending for remedial actions
  • Investigate and making appropriate recommendations on staff and public complaint.

What are the overall standards of Inspection Inspections of Ministries should strive to conduct their operations in the most efficient and effective manner possible, which serves to enhance the credibility of the organizations.  The following standards are established by Inspectors on Integrity and Efficiency to guide all inspection work performed by Performance inspectors 

 

Inspection Report Channel Once the inspection has been completed, an inspection report will be developed based on the inspection findings which is to be reverted to respective Ministries for feedbacks and amendments where deemed necessary. The Final Inspection Report will then be sent to PSO’s Secretary where it will be discussed during the Secretaries Meeting and/or Cabinet Meeting.

Ministries are expected to provide the following:

  • Ministry Strategic Plan (updated)
  • Summary Attendance Report
  • Progress report
  • Quesitionaires
